Gerry and Mark's Wedding at Compton Acres

On Saturday 7th November Alan and I had the priviledge of photographing the wedding of Gerry and Mark at the beautiful Compton Acres in Poole. I met up with girls where it was all systems go as they got ready for the big day, Gerry looked gorgeous in her cream Maggie Sotterroo gown and was accompanied by her sister Gillian and two of the most adorable little girls, Ava and Charlotte. Alan headed for the New Westcliffe Hotel where he met Mark, his brother Paul who was his best man and Ava's older brother, pageboy Jack who looked equally stunning as his sister!

The ceremony took place in the Italian Villa at Compton Acres under close scrutiny of a webcam to relay the proceedings to Mark's sister Kim who was unable to attend. After Gerry and Mark were married it was outside to the Japanese gardens in their resplendent autumn colours for the couples shots before heading back to steps of the villa where the group photos took place. After their wedding breakfast the speeches began and much hilarity was had, mainly at Mark's expense, I hasten to add! But I don't think though there was a dry eye in the house as Paul read Kim's speech but she did all make us smile with the story of the biscuits!!!

The evening reception then began and Gerry and Mark danced their first dance as husband and wife to Snow Partrol's 'Chasing Cars.' One of my favourites too! Alan and I really enjoyed being part of this special day and have added a few of the photos taken as a taster of more to come. Another SILVER in the SWPP wedding compeition along with three more BRONZE awards.....

And yes were are pleased. The SILVER was awarded for an image in the WEDDING PHOTOJOURNALISM category and was taken at the wedding of Teresa and Kevin at Burley Manor back in September of this year. It was taken at the moment of the ring exchange and the expression on Teresa's face shows that Kevin's ring was perhaps just a little bit tight. I love this photo though as I really think it captures that moment well, and I additionally like the fact that the registrar is intent on the proceedings too! Autumn Fun at Stourhead Landscaped Gardens

Today we went to Stourhead Landscaped gardensand took some photos of our two beautiful boys playing with leaves like only they know how! It is a beautiful setting especially at this time of the year with all the autumnal colours and well worth a visit. Apologies for the blatant proud parents' post!

Faye and Archie's AMAZING wedding, the SS Great Britain in Bristol

Saturday saw Alan and I leaving our normal base to photograph the wedding of Faye and Archie on the SS Great Britain in Bristol. The venue was stunning and so was the wedding itself. Faye looked gorgeous in her beautiful and unusual red and white Mori Lee encrusted gown which complemented Archie's red waistcoast perfectly. Supported by her two sisters, five flower girls and a pageboy the bridal party looked stunning. The horse and carriage arrival and the Unity Choir's rendition of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Phantom of the Opera made this truly a wedding to remember. The proceedings were introduced by 'Isambard Kingdom Brunel' himself making the most of this historic setting.

Monthly Wedding Competition

The SWPP carries out a monthly wedding competition that is open to all their members and the photos are graded as Bronze, Silver and Gold. This month we manged to get a SILVER in the Bridal Portraiture category with this photograph of Katie taken on 12th September at Highcliffe Castle. It is one of our favourites, let's hope it is one of Katie and David's too. Click on the photo to see it at full size!

The wedding of Toby and Becky who invite you to share their afternoon tea!

Becky and Toby got married yesterday and a perfect day it was too! 9am saw Donna's arrival at Passion In Ringwood where Becky, her sister Hannah and Mum were having their hair dressed ready for the big day. Becky was remarkably calm as her hair was adorned with fragrant stephanotis and blue sparkling diamantes. Alan met the groom, Toby, his parents and the boys at Compasses Inn in Damerham where the pale grey suits looked amazing.

Soon it was back to Becky's house for the all important make up and dressing. Becky looked absolutely beautiful in a dress befitting of a Jane Austen heroine that her Mum Amanda had lovingly made. It couldn't have been more perfect for Becky, the moment I saw her, I knew this was the only dress for her. We left for the ceremony which was held in Ringwood and Alan and I captured an emotional exchange of vows before leaving for the very English village of Ashmore complete with village hall and cricket ground for their 'High Tea' reception where the guests were treated with homemade cakes, pink lemonade and tea from vintage tea services, it was brilliant.

We had great fun photographing the bride and groom, only stopping for Toby to 'jump start' a friend's van, in this stunning location. We would like to wish them well on their honeymoon and also for a very happy future together!

Yesterday was a FIRST...... the first wedding at Monkey World Ape Rescue Centre at Wool in Dorset and Digitally Different were there to capture the marriage of Anna and Dan. The couple decided that they wanted a wedding that was special to them and their mutual adoration of all things primate so they pursued their dream and married at Monkey World.

It was a day like no other, for Anna and Dan, who had travelled from Newcastle, for the event and also for Alan and myself and it certainly will be one to remember. The first wedding at Monkey World was always likely to create a bit of a stir and a stir it did and the press were there in attendance! Hats off to Dr Alison Cronin the owner of Monkey World and her team who had worked tirelessly to make the venue AMAZING.

After the ceremony in full view of the Chimps outside Paddy's enclosure it was time for a trip up the tower for a scatter feed. The Chimpanzees were treated to a 'royal' spread of lavender, roses, rosehips and their favourite ice lollies, this time, dyed red and heart shaped to mark the occasion. After much hilarity and fun of feeding the Chimps it was off on our own guided tour of the Park with Mike. Being with Mike was brilliant as it was like being with the Daddy of all primates and it was clear that they all knew him as they recognised his voice and bounded over with enthusiasm much to delight of Dan and Anna!

Soon the tour ended and it was back to the Watering Hole for a splendid buffet and the speeches! During which, Shelly the Events Co-ordinator at Monkey World got a bit of a suprise when her very special birthday was acknowledged. Well it was only right to do so after all the hard work she had put in. Group shots were taken in the grounds before it was time for the guests to have a wander around the magnificent venue and appreciate the delights of Monkey World for themselves. The evening reception was held at the Springfield Hotel in Wareham where the party continued.

Katie and David's Wedding at Highcliffe Castle

Yesterday was amazing! Fantastic venue, fantastic weather and a fantastic couple! Katie and David's wedding at Highcliffe Castle http://www.highcliffecastle.co.uk/ was a stunning affair. We arrived at the Castle and awaited the arrival of David, his best man James and his ushers Sam and Ross and it was round to the spectacular entrance for some photos of the boys who all looked incredibly smart and handsome. It was not long before Katie and her bridesmaids, Olivia, Alesha and Lisa arrived in matching white and grey vintage cars. Katie and her Dad looked very cool in the their 'shades,' too good a photo opportunity to miss! Katie and her bridesmaids looked beautiful and it must be 'hats off' to Katie's mum who had made Katie's stunning full lace wedding gown.

Soon the ceremony began in the elegant Winter Garden and David and Katie exchanged the vows necessary to make them husband and wife. After the ceremony it was outside for the group shots and a champagne toast before we took Katie and David and their bridal party for some photos in the grounds and on the beach which was great fun as we are sure you can see from the photos.

After the wedding breakfast we stayed to photograph the heartfelt sincere speeches that marked the 'formal' end to what was a wonderful day. David and Katie head off on a wonderful honeymoon to Hawaii on Monday, jealous? you bet! Thank you though guys for making the day memorable and enjoyable for us too!

Teresa and Kevin's Wedding at Burley Manor

Yesterday, Alan and I were lucky enough to share Teresa and Kevin's special day with them at Burley Manor. Donna arrived early at Teresa's mum's house where it soon became a hive of activity as Lynne and Kerry from Beautiful Brides started to attend to Mum and Teresa. Teresa amazed me by being so relaxed and they both clearly enjoyed being pampered. Soon it was time for Teresa to put on her gorgeous Maggie Sottero dress, the outfit was completed with a beautiful orchid bouquet.

Whilst all this was going on, Alan met up with Kevin and his best men Paul and Ian at Burley Manor. The boys looked great in their pink shirts! Teresa arrived in style in a baby blue Jaguar and the ceremony commenced. There was lots of laughing and smiling as Kevin and Teresa exchanged their vows. Although at times baby Abigail stole the show!

After the ceremony it was out on the lawn for drinks and photos and it was not long before they were called into their wedding breakfast. Alan and I stayed to photograph the wonderful speeches at the end of the meal. Kevin and Teresa will be by now off on their honeymoon, but here is a taster of some of the photos. Time for some updates......

As things have been really busy weddings wise, we haven't been as prompt as perhaps we should have been with updating the blog! So today is officially the re-launch of the blog along with the new website and the new packages!! Rather than go back and write up every wedding we have photographed since the last update, what we have decided to do is create a snaphot of some of our favourite images from some of our weddings to give you a flavour of what we have been up to in the meantime.

Lucy and Graeme's Seaside Splendour!

Lucy and Graeme celebrated their wedding in style in the seaside town of Poole. It really was a remarkable day. Donna began capturing the day with Lucy at home where Lucy, her parents and her two bridesmaids busied themselves getting ready for the off. The house was full of excitement and anticipation as everyone was laughing and joking and thoroughly enjoying the bridal preparations. It was not long before Lucy was dressed in her beautiful strapless silk wedding gown complete with veil and perfect pink rose bouquet and her bridesmaids were ready in the rich chocolate brown ballerina length gowns with baby pink sashes, the look was exquisite and quite unique.

Alan had gone off in pursuit of the men where a meeting at the Holiday Inn soon became a jaunt to Poole's historic quayside and the chance for some fun with the photos. Graeme, the groom, obviously a bit peckish decided to buy some chips which caused much hilarity amongst the passers by.

Soon it was time for the ceremony at St James' Church famed for its association with generations of fisherman. The traditional service was intimate and personal and a joy to behold. After the register was signed it was outside for some group photos before their guests departed on a spectacular Routemaster Bus which was adorned with ribbons and bows to the stunningly contemporary Harbour Heights Hotel in the luxurious Canford Cliffs area of Poole where the couple were treated to spectacular views as they sipped Champagne on the terrace as the sun shone brightly overhead.

After a sumptuous meal Donna and Alan took Lucy and Graeme down to the beach where we captured some romantic shots as the sun set over Poole Harbour which will make a grand finale to their wedding album. We wish them every happiness as they begin their married life together and look forward to putting their photos online from 5th June

Claire and Andy's New Forest Wedding.......

Claire and Andy celebrated their wedding in style in the beautiful New Forest in Hamshire. They held their marriage ceremony in the atmospheric All Saints Church in Dibden Purlieu near Southampton. They then travelled in style to their stunning reception venue Burley Manor Hotel before departing for an unusual and adventurous honeymoon in the tropical island of Borneo !

As you can see for yourself, Claire looked radiant in a lovely pale coffee coloured strapless dress that complemented her glossy auburn hair perfectly. the bodice was adorned with crystals and beads that captured the light throughout the day. The boys looked handsome, relaxed and classically elegant in their dark morning suits with cream waistcoats and cravats. Fragrant flowers in spring colours really set off the scene. Claire's attendants looked beautiful too with a coffee and cream colour scheme with little butterflies appliqued on the little flower girls' dresses. It really was a wonderful English country wedding and one that Alan and I will remember fondly. Their wedding photographs will be available to view online from 2nd June.

Award Winning Wedding Photographers!!!!

Up until this year, Digitally Different have not been active in entering photographic competitions, in fact I can go as far as to say, that we had not entered any!!! But all that changed in February when an email from the SWPP(Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers) suggested that all its members should enter as they 'had nothing to lose! and only something to gain!' So it was with that sentiment going around in my head that I decided to do something about it!

Back in February - I entered this photograph taken of Johnny and Cathering at Badbury Rings into the 'Tradtional Wedding' category and was delighted to see it achieving a BRONZE AWARD!
Encouraged by this success, I decided to enter more photographs in more categories and these were the entries and the results for March. 'Contemporary Wedding' - SILVER AWARD, taken of Janine and Adrian at Rhinefield House.

Plus we have revamped our packages to fit in with today's lifestyle wedding photography! Janine and Adrian's Wedding

Janine and Adrian had a wonderful Spring wedding at the spectacular Rhinefield House Hotel in the heart of the beautiful New
Forest and we were there to capture the day for the happy couple!

After arriving nice and early, Donna made her way to meet Janine and her attendants who were busy being attended to by the hairdresser from Eskape in Ringwood and the Virgin Vie make up artist. Whlist Alan went off into the hotel grounds taking photos of the amazing architecture. It was not long before the stunning bouquets arrived that composed of deep red roses and beautiful elegant cala lillies Arcade Flowers of Ringwood had done a perfect job.

The boys arrived looking very handsome in their morning suits and cravats and Alan captured some wonderful shots of them all together.

Soon it was time to make our way to the Walker Suite where Janine met the registrar from the Ringwood Office and once all the legalities had been performed and it was time get married!

Janine looking beautiful entered the Grand Hall while Adrian stood at the front awaiting the arrival of his bride. The ceremony went with just one hitch the marriage of Janine and Adrian! as friends and family and little Haydn all watched and enjoyed the proceedings.

Once the ceremony was over it was out to the front of the hotel for confetti throwing and family photographs. A drinks reception was held in the Kings' Room while the bride and groom made their way into the grounds for some romantic portraits.
As the guests sat down to their sumptuous meal, Donna and Alan left only to return in the evening for the cake cutting and their wonderful first dance. It was the end of a perfect day!

Well this blog was a case of if 'You can't beat 'em, join 'em!'

Lots of other wedding photographers have Blogs on their sites and having looked at many, it made sense that we too shared all out latest news via this medium! On this Blog, we hope to do the following:

We live in Verwood in Dorset, but will cover weddings all over the county, into Hampshire, Wiltshire, Somerset and West Sussex!
